Hajj and Umrah pilgrims wear the Ihram at the Miqat. All five Miqat locations mark where one can begin the Ihram for each journey. But before moving to the specifics. there’s one most important thing to mention. It is vital to comprehend the prohibitions that follow donning the Ihram. Dhat Irq Miqat:

Dhat Irq Miqat is a selected point located about 94 km to the northeast of Makkah. It is a Miqat for pilgrims from Iraq and Iran. It marks where they enter Ihram to do Umrah and Hajj. Many travelers consider this Miqat an important stop on the route from Makkah to Kufa.

The Miqat at Dhat Irq is divided into three sections.

  • Maslakh: This is the first section. Pilgrims should enter Ihram here.
  • Qumrah: This is the second section. Pilgrims can don their Ihram there if they haven't at Maslakh.
  • Dhat Irq: The third and final section. where entering Ihram is also allowable.

Yalamlam Miqat:

The area lies about 92 KM southeast of Makkah, settled among the mountains. This is the Miqaat for travelers from Yemen and those on the same path. If you're arriving by sea from countries like India, or Pakistan. China. or Japan. this spot will be your Miqaat.

Miqat Masjid Dhul Hulifa:

Masjid Dhul Hulifa is roughly 450 KM from Makkah and 9 KM from Madinah. It serves as the miqat for locals in Madinah. All pilgrims starting their Hajj from Madinah need to don their Ihram at this miqat. But you do not need to enter Masjid Dhul Hulifa to wear the Ihram.You can even perform this action outside the mosque.

Juhfat Miqat:

Juhfa Miqat is about 183 kilometers northwest of Makkah. It is the starting point for pilgrims from Syria. North Africa Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon. They come to perform Umrah and Hajj.

Near the Red Sea. it is approximately 9 kilometers from Ghadir Khumm. This is where pilgrims wearing ihrams from Jeddah to Makkah put them on.

Qarn al-Manazil (Miqat Taif):

This area. near Taif. is mountainous. Qarn Al Manazil located about 94 km east of Makkah, serves as the meeqat point for pilgrims from Najd. Also known as Muqat Al Sail Al Kabir it is the meeqat location for those traveling from Riyadh. Additionally. this is the meeqat for people coming from Dubai to perform Umrah.

Please Note: The miqats mentioned below (6, 7, and 8) are only for Makkah residents. Or for those who entered Makkah without intending to perform Umrah at first.

Masjid Ayesha Miqat for Makkah:

Taneem Mosque is also called Masjid e Aisha. It holds a special place in the hearts of those starting the holy trips of Umrah and Hajj. This mosque is very important. It marks the spot where Aisha, the beloved wife of Prophet Muhammad, started her Ihram. Ihram is a state of holy purity. She did this even though she was on her period. She did it to start her pilgrimage to Umrah. Faith and dedication root this act. It shows the inclusive nature of Islam. It highlights the importance of divine promise over physical settings.

Juranah Mosque:

Besides Masjid al-Haram, there's an extra spot called Masjid al-Ji’rranah. It's one of those places where pilgrims start their Umrah journey by entering the state of Ihram. In the year 8 AH after the Battle of Hunayn the Prophet (PBUH) spent a few days here. He arrived at Ihram and then went to Makkah for Umrah.

Masjid Hudaibiyah Mosque:

The signers signed the Treaty of Hudaibiyah at the present-day Masjid al-Hudaibiyah. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Quraysh tribe of Makkah tapered it. Now, it's a Miqat for pilgrims getting ready to enter Ihram.

Can I put on Ihram when I reach Jeddah airport?

The Jeddah airport has no ihram. Go to a Miqat location for Umrah the airport in Jeddah is not acceptable.

Can I wear Ihram attire during my flight?

Before taking flight. you can't clean shave wear Ihram or do any other prep. So, finish all these tasks before your flight. Then focus on your aims once you're up there.

Can Jeddah airport serve as a miqat?

It's crucial to understand that the miqat rule applies to both hajj and umrah. Jeddah Airport falls within its boundaries. Most folks need to wear ihram before reaching the miqat. It is before they land in Jeddah.
